"Power can be taken, but not given. The process of the taking is empowerment in itself." Gloria Steinem

Champion for women on boards

Gender diversity has never had a higher profile, with the Davies Report published in February last year and the proposed new requirement in the UK Corporate Governance Code for companies to report annually on their diversity policy, specifically including gender, from October 2012.

To support this initiative, Fran works with aspirational women and presents to organisations and companies concentrating on the challenges women face in attaining a seat on the board. She focuses on educating them around three key areas: Personal branding, Technical expertise and advice around the criteria required to position themselves as a Board Director or NED. Fran stimulates thinking around perceived challenges, sacrifices and the choices necessary if women wish to pursue this route.

Fran also interviews female chairmen, directors and NED’s to understand their journey. She explores the risks, challenges, sacrifices, change in attitudes, and behaviours they feel women need to consider if they aspire to the board. In addition, we explore what UK plc needs to do other than pay lip service to Lord Davies’s Report. Fran uses this research in her speaking engagements and 1 – 1 work with aspirational women.

Women in Property

“The presentation was a huge success, thank you. We have had such good feedback both last night and today - it was a memorable evening for everyone!”

Davenport Lyons

“After hosting Fran Moscow’s successful Women on Boards presentation to Women in Property at our offices we asked Fran to do this same presentation to our Women in Business Group.

The presentation was pragmatic and educational and took our guests through the challenges, risks, sacrifices, change in attitudes, and behaviours to be overcome if they wished to pursue a Board career.

Fran touched on personal branding and on the extra skill sets women need to consider adding to their already high level of expertise, as well as a set of criteria all of which, when addressed, will enable women to position themselves in a more powerful way.

Fran’s presentation was inspiring and thought provoking and prompted very positive feedback from our guests.”
